My place to shop in Michigan city. Yeah it's more expensive than Meijer or Walmart most of the time. But its not a major corporation. They have more upscale type foods you can't find anywhere else. Very well stocked and the employees are great.
Al's Supermarket is more upscale than Meijers or Kroger, at least they would like you to think so. I don't know if the quality of the food is better but it seems to be pricier. To be honest, I only went there because it was convenient.
Great place to grocery shop. Very friendly and helpful staff. And the service desk ladies at the karwick store are as get as they get
I asked where their gluten free section was? I was informed that, like Kroger, it was all mixed in with the non-gluten food. However, the food is not labeled so you have to search for the gluten free items. Most, not all, of the gluten free items at Kroger are labeled as such.
We love the meats from the butcher counter. St. Louis style pork steak, Pig Wings, Garlic Butter chicken breasts. Great place to shop.
Best place to go get beer / wine for the holidays , they have a great selection. Also a really great place to get seafood.
