We could have went to George's and Chesterton for half the price in quadruple the food and quality. If we took the meat from all six meals and put it on a pita it would have been still a small Gyro. I have been to concession stands at a little league ball game that had larger servings without the Major League Baseball prices. I wish Google would let me give it zero Stars. I have never written a bad review before but seeing that there was 5 reviews bad this week alone about this restaurant I figure I would add the 6th.
Food is pretty good. The view is awesome! What a neat place for Michigan city to have. The chicken jerk sandwich is not as good as last year though. Change it back. Where's the sauce???!!!
Probably the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at! $48 for counter service for four people to eat with NO drinks and we waited 45 minutes to get our "quick service food". They messed up our order and gave us the wrong sandwich so they literally took it back and flopped the correct sandwich into the same basket. (Pieces of the old sandwich were still in the bottom of the basket) Overcharged us for a supposed side order that came with the sandwich for French fries, which they originally told us came with the sandwich. So basically, we paid $9 for just a sandwich. The pulled chicken from the sandwich was at least a day or two old (dried up and crunchy, yes I said crunchy) and the top of the bun had remnants of BBQ sauce from someone's fingers but no BBQ sauce to be found IN the sandwich. There were 8 French fries in each basket, I kid you not, of which I apparently paid an additional $1.50 per person for. Service employees were very sloppy and at one point the food runner flopped her shoes off in the middle of the tables and continued walking. So to say the least, it was AWFUL! Forgot to add: they did not give my husband a top bun for his sandwich... are you kidding me?????
Can't wait to come back
Pretty busy day with a car show and boat race happening in the park. Had a reasonable wait time for 7 people's food.
My family and I heard good reviews about this place so we came here for my mother-in-law's birthday. I wish I could put pictures up of the food we were served. I was waiting for the cast of what would you do to come out from behind the curtains. For six of us it cost us $100 we all ordered Gyros they ran out of pitas so they brought us three small forkfuls of gyro meat each covered in cucumber sauce and tomatoes and a bag of chips for $9 a piece. I ate my entire plate in three small forkfuls. And the meat that was on the plate both pieces of it or burnt to a crisp. When we complained they brought us out another two spoonfuls of me to split between 6 people. comically awful!!!
This is a somewhat unique place. Food is ordered at a concession window downstairs, and when the weather is nice, is delivered by table service to the upstairs Deck with million-dollar views of the beach in Lake Michigan. When the weather is not nice, the upper deck forms a roof over the lower patio. Diners can sit there sheltered from the rain. I had the fancy nacho dish. The chips were well-covered with chili and cheese, but were a little soggy. It is owned by the Michigan City Parks Department and operated by an outside contractor.
Gyros was large and delicious. Plenty of great fries to share. Pineapple slaw was way good and I don't even like coleslaw!
