I only gave one star because I had to in order to leave a comment. The manager there has a terrible disposition and lacks the experience necessary to work in a community of people who are of mixed race. I went in for highlights....smh. She told me that she had no idea how my hair would turn out because it was dyed dark, which is my natural hair color, and made the most disgusting faces as she talked at me, not to me. I asked her if maybe there was someone else who could do it that maybe had more experience with color. She completly went off on me reminding me that she was the manager there with 20 years of experience..then when she was done unleashing on me she stared at me for about three mins saying nothing. It was so uncomfortable and just insane, she is emotionally unstable. So I left, didn't want an agressive, insecure person in my hair. Came to fiesta salon in Valpo and the gal here gave me what I wanted with a great attitude. This was on 11-11- 2017. Sorry for all of you who had similar experiences.
Lisa is absolutely horrible. My normal stylist was out of town and I decided to go to SmartStyle for a trim. Big mistake. I asked before I even entered the salon if they cut curly (3A) hair well. Lisa said she was experienced. I had my hair in a bun which made it knotted and I addressed that to her. As soon as I sat in the chair she tells me, she can only cut my hair if she straightened it. I told her "absolutely not". I don't straighten my hair and didn't understand why she would need to. The entire hour that I was in there she degraded me, telling me I don't use expensive enough shampoo, I don't brush my hair (brushing curly hair makes it frizzy when it dries), and the list goes on. When I left I felt terrible about my hair. I called corporate and nothing was done. They offered me a $1.22 refund. I didn't accept. The cut was a basic trim which turned out fine. But don't go unless you want to leave feeling miserable.
I love, love, love the way Lisa cut, colored and styled my hair! She is exactly what I have been searching for in a stylist. This lady is awesome!
Lisa did a remarkable job on my hair. I highly recommend her and all the girls at SmartStyles, they pay close attention to the details and always asked if I was comfortable through the whole process. I give Lisa and SmartStyles an A+.

I took a chance at Smart Style inside Walmart, my friend referred Lisa. I am so happy I did.
I stopped in to have my hair curled. The girl standing outside told me the price was 19.95. My hair was down so she saw the length. We went in and she curled my hair. It took about 10 minutes. She then charged me for long length which was an extra 10 dollars so with tip it ended up being 34.95. If she saw my length when I walked up and asked the price, why not just tell me right there, we are going to charge you extra 10 for your hair being just past your shoulders. I was surprised also because it was a super quick curl. The curls did not last all night, probably about two or three hours. It was pretty, but way over priced.
