We seriously regret moving here last year. I don't know how to pinpoint it, but after talking to some of our neighbors, most of them seem dissatisfied here. The way the staff comes off just seems "fake" to me. I don't know what it is... But that's the feeling I get. The good thing is that the people around here seem friendly, and there's no trouble really around here. The way I look at it, is these places LOOK nice, but the buildings inside are in need of repair & cleaning. It's sort of embarrassing bringing my relatives and friends over in the hallways. Note: The air conditioning is a tiny window unit that is JUNK! Me and my wife HATE living here and can't wait to move!
Lived here 3 years so far. Used to be great. Now they are getting rid of things one by one. First the outgoing mail slot (which were to be replaced by one at the office, but never happened), then they shorted the office hours, then hired people to change the windows who did a poor job (wrecked the apartment, and left glass on the sidewalks and screws in the carpet), NOW they are getting rid of the trash chutes with few outdoor replacements (which will make trash inaccessible for the elderly and disabled who live here). Sad, this place was great.
For over $750 a month you will get the cheapest kitchen appliances possible. Cheap fixtures, cheap carpets, cheap flooring, cheap cabinets. They use the worst of the worst quality when it comes to furnishing these apartments. I've lived in many cheaper places before that had much better appliances. People like to drive 30mph through the parking lot with their bass blasting.
The bad: parking is atrocious. Too many cars that people don't use or are broke down. If you work all day and order a lot online you don't have a place to pick up your package unless you're home. definitely not modern by any means. Noisy noisy noisy. probably should have done a little shopping before hand. Rent is too high for what you get. The buildings are outdated. The heating and water run off a crappy boiler that probably isn't adequate for the size of the building. Walls might as well be made of cardboard boxes because they sure don't block out many of the noises. I never had to deal with the staff so I can't comment on them. It's not terrible bad. But it's not 5 stars good. Michigan city just has a terrible selection of good apartments. You're either paying tons of cash or living in a crime infested craphole. This place sort of fits in the middle....
Spend your rent money elsewhere, this place doesn't care about their people. communication is p*** poor. the buildings are old and very outdated. the interiors are depressing to look at with the color scheme. i'm always picking up trash in the hallways myself. no one ever seems to clean up.
I read through some of these reviews and I figured I would chime in. the people in the office took away outgoing mail so the elderly people who don't have cars or family that sees them can't send Christmas cards out. If you like packages coming to your apartment. FORGET ABOUT IT. They no longer allow them to be dropped off at the office like most apartments allow. If you're not home, you are not getting your package.
they took the trash chutes away in the buildings at the worst time of the year. what are the elderly people supposed to do now? the crew they hired to repair the windows had to be the worst bunch I've ever seen. I've been in the window & roofing business for 20 years and I would have fired them all on the spot for the shoddy redneck work.
I also forgot to mention as posted by someone else just recently. Watch out for the 5 star reviews about this place. The office put out a contest a few months ago. If you put a positive review you were put into a raffle to get a free months worth of rent. Very unethical if you ask me for a business to beg for fake positive reviews.
Lived here for 3 years and am dissatisfied with my experience here. The staff does not disclose everything to you when moving in or out. It is not worth the rent. Everything here is outdated. Not a good place for parents with kids. The parking lot was a mess for a year before anything was done to fix it. Garbage shoots were often jammed. Foyer and hallways always needed cleaned There are many good reviews on here but do not be fooled. The office ran a drawing for a gift card if residents left a review on Google. Everyday I am so thankful I got out of these apartments. I have spoken to several if my neighbors and many are unhappy and are considering leaving. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.
The good: close to grocery stores. Walking distance if you needed. In a decent neighborhood. Close to hwy 94 & 20.
be careful if you write a bad review using your real name I wouldn't be surprised if they start punishing people. chuck was my nickname in college. they spend too much money on decorating the façade of their office center instead of putting the money where it needs to be. I will be looking for a new place to call home shortly. the location is decent and safe. that's all I have to say about that. communicate with your residents with more updates & letters and let us know what is going on.
